Business Dialer — Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 14, 2025
Last Updated: May 14, 2025
1. Introduction
Business Dialer (“the App”, “we”, “our”) is an Android phone dialer application developed for business professionals. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, where it is stored, and what rights you have over your data.
By installing and using Business Dialer, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Summary
- Your contacts stay on your device and in your Google Contacts account. We do not upload your contact data to any external server controlled by us.
- We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or usage statistics from your device.
- We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any third party.
- We do not show advertising of any kind.
3. Data We Access and Why
3.1 Contacts
Permission: READ_CONTACTS, WRITE_CONTACTS
The App reads your device contacts to display them in the contact list, show caller information during incoming and outgoing calls, and allow you to create, edit, and delete contacts.
When you create or edit a contact, the App writes that data to:
- Android’s local contacts database on your device (via Android’s
ContactsContractsystem) - Your Google Contacts account (via Android’s built-in Google sync adapter)
No contact data is sent to any server operated by Business Dialer.
3.2 Phone Calls
Permission: READ_PHONE_STATE, CALL_PHONE, MANAGE_OWN_CALLS, READ_CALL_LOG, WRITE_CALL_LOG
The App requires these permissions to function as your default phone dialer. They are used to:
- Display the incoming/outgoing call screen
- Answer, reject, hold, and end calls
- Match incoming call numbers against your contact list
- Display recent call history
Call log data is read from and written to Android’s system call log. It is not transmitted outside your device.
3.3 Google Account Information
Permission: GET_ACCOUNTS
The App reads the name and email address of your linked Google account solely to display it in the app’s navigation header. This information is stored locally in Android SharedPreferences on your device. It is never transmitted to any external server.
3.4 Microphone
Permission: RECORD_AUDIO
Required by Android to handle phone call audio routing (speaker, earpiece, Bluetooth headset) through the telecom framework. The App does not record calls.
3.5 Bluetooth
Permission: BLUETOOTH_CONNECT
Used to detect and switch call audio to a connected Bluetooth headset or car kit during a call.
3.6 “Display over other apps”
Permission: SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW
Required to display the incoming call screen when the device is locked or another app is in the foreground, which is standard behavior for any dialer app.
4. Data Storage
| Data | Where It Is Stored |
|---|---|
| Contact list (names, numbers, emails, companies, notes, labels, photos) | Android local contacts database + your Google Contacts account |
| App settings and preferences | Android SharedPreferences on your device (local only) |
| Call history | Android system call log (local only) |
| Google account display name | Android SharedPreferences on your device (local only) |
| Subscription / payment status | Android SharedPreferences on your device (local only) |
Nothing is stored on servers operated by Business Dialer.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal data with any third party, with the following narrow exceptions:
- Google Contacts sync: When you create or edit a contact, the App instructs Android’s built-in Google sync adapter to sync that contact to your Google account. This is equivalent to editing a contact in your device’s native Contacts app. The data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing: In-app purchase transactions (monthly, yearly, and lifetime plans) are processed entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card information. Google’s handling of payment data is governed by Google’s Payments Privacy Notice.
- Legal obligations: We may disclose data if required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority.
6. Sensitive Permissions — Additional Disclosure
In accordance with Google Play policy, we provide explicit disclosure for the following sensitive permission categories:
Contacts Permission
The App accesses your full contacts list. This data is used exclusively within the App for call display and contact management. It is stored locally on your device and synced to your own Google Contacts account. It is never shared with, sold to, or processed by Business Dialer’s servers.
Call Log Permission
The App reads and writes to the Android call log to display your recent call history. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted externally.
Phone / Dialer Permission
Business Dialer requests to become the default phone dialer. This grants it access to manage phone calls. This access is used solely to provide the core calling functionality of the App.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
- Contacts and call history are managed entirely through Android’s system. You can delete contacts or call log entries at any time through the App or through Android’s native Contacts and Phone apps.
- App preferences and subscription status stored in
SharedPreferencesare automatically deleted when you uninstall the App. - We hold no data on any server, so there is nothing to request deletion of on our end.
8. Children’s Privacy
Business Dialer is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App is designed exclusively for business professionals. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. Security
All personal data handled by Business Dialer remains on your device and within your own Google account. We implement no server-side storage, which eliminates the risk of a server-side data breach affecting your information. Your device’s own security (screen lock, encryption) and your Google account security (password, two-factor authentication) protect your data.
10. Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash reporting tools, or social media SDKs.
The only third-party interaction is:
- Google Play Billing Library — for processing in-app purchases, governed by Google’s policies.
- Android’s Google Contacts Sync Adapter — a system-level component pre-installed on Android devices with a Google account, governed by Google’s policies.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: View what data the App holds about you (it is all visible within the App itself).
- Correction: Edit any contact or setting directly within the App.
- Deletion: Delete any contact, call log entry, or uninstall the App to remove all local preferences.
- Portability: Your contacts are stored in your Google Contacts account, which you can export at any time via Google Takeout.
- Withdrawal of consent: You can revoke the App’s contact or phone permissions at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Business Dialer → Permissions, or uninstall the App entirely.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, these rights are provided under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent national law. Our legal basis for processing contact and call data is contract performance (providing the core functionality you installed the App for).
For users in California (USA), you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Because we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, most CCPA sale/sharing opt-out rights do not apply. You have the right to know what data is collected (described in this policy) and to delete it (by uninstalling the App).
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For material changes, we will provide notice through the App or the Google Play Store listing.
